I wish everyone a most wonderful Thanksgiving Day full of family and friends.
Beautiful Christmas is coming so quickly, but then it always does. I always say to myself if I just had one more day …
This Christmas I am trying decorations with the color pink. I am usually the more traditional person – reds dominant with touches of green. I am enjoying the preparations – pink is not that easy to find with a Christmas theme, and it has to be a special pink.

The soft pink shell vase was given to me by my mom. The tiny editions of Charles Dickens belonged to my Grandfather.
The pattern in the shakers is so delicate and beautiful.

The frost this early morning is so beautiful. It has really been an exceptional season.
There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!

L CPL US MARINE CORPS
VIETNAM
October 22 1946 - January 4 1989
PURPLE HEART
A twenty - one year old young man proudly joins the Marine Corps, he does his training in Paris Island and shortly afterwards he finds himself bound for a country called Vietnam. He really doesn’t mind as he loves his country called America and knows in his heart he is fighting the aggression of Communism.
He finds friends from the deep beautiful south where he was born and raised. Sometimes they have a few moments to rest and to talk.
Most of the time these brave young men work hard and are on the move.
As with all wars the young man is caught in a cross fire and his tank is hit with a mortar. He is seriously wounded and loses his leg in a grisly battle. The young man is twenty – one and it is Father’s Day. For many months the young man works at regaining his ability to walk and for many years he works very hard to understand his nightmares.
I often talked with the young man about his love of country, duty and honor. Sometimes very late at night into the early hours of morning – he taught me so much about how to carry on and make the best of everything and shared so much of himself with me and the children – he was my husband.
On a sunny winter afternoon, after Christmas and all the love of holiday magic the then older man returns to work and is killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. He leaves behind his wife and six children.
We still miss our Hero each day and no one more than me – but I am better for knowing and loving this great man.
I am humbled by those who choose to serve this country, America, and I pray to our Heavenly Father each day for their safe journey home to those who love them.
Anything Jane Austen appeals to me everyday, whether it is her novels, facts and non-facts about the author, and all to do with the Regency Era. I wanted to post the most comprehensive site I found and receive in my Google Reader each day concerning Jane -
A Daily Celebration of the Brilliance of Jane Austen’s Writing
Please visit this site if you are a fan of Jane Austen – I liken it to receiving a new magazine full of Jane each day.
